PCOS is a packaged software system that interfaces with UNIX based operating systems (HP-UX, RTU, TC/IX) and analog/digital front-ends to provide a general purpose high-speed data acquisition capability. PCOS for UNIX is highly configurable at the user level, allowing modification of the user interface and extensions to both the real-time and data reduction capabilities.
PCOS for UNIX features include:
- A mouse-driven window system for a user-friendly operating environment, featuring:
· Pull-down menus for PCOS function selection
· Tables
· Data-entry forms
- Real-time capabilities, including:
· Data acquisition
· Data logging
· Engineering-unit conversion
· Limit checking of converted data
· Display of raw and converted data
· User defined processes
- A database management system for efficient data storage, query, and retrieval.
- Automatic or manual calibration of A/D front-end hardware.
- Modules to convert acquired data to engineering units for various industry standard transducers including:
· Thermocouple
· Strain gage
· RTD
- Modules to perform composite conversions such as:
· Averages
· Sums or differences
· Products
· Integrals
· Running minimum or maximum
- Capability to incorporate user written programs, such as:
· Conversion modules
· Limit exception programs for operator control in an alarm condition
· Display modules
· Synchronous real-time routines
- Data reduction capabilities, including:
· Replay of raw data on a 16 channel oscilloscope
· Channel .vs. time plots in a user defined format
· Channel .vs. channel plots in a user defined format
· Multiple plots per page
· Tabular presentation of data
· Sets of tabular reports or plots generated automatically
· Output directed to CRT or hard-copy device(s)
- Two stage limit checking (caution or warning) of converted values with messages displayed and user specified action taken.
- Display routines for real-time presentation of converted or raw data in the following
formats:
· 16 channel oscilloscope
· Bar graph
· User definable X-Y format
